Scenario

Haute Dolci, the parent company of Heavenly Desserts are a rapidly growing boutique dessert chain, expanding across the Midlands and the North West. When previously tendering to alternative brokerages, Heavenly Desserts felt that there was little by way of checks and balances as to recommendations, contract terms and transparency.

In addition, when Haute Dolci takes over sites their previous occupiers often do not inform the suppliers leading to incorrect debt allocations and delays in the transfer of liability. In some serious cases the meters needed at site to start refurbishment and opening had been removed due to non-payment.

Resolution

Dr Cost initially came in on an open tender for the group’s stores in Leicester and Preston. We provided competitive pricing from 23 suppliers with clear guidance as to the commissions included and recommendations as to term. Often the prices we obtained from utility suppliers were better than those offered by competitors.

Subsequently Dr Cost assisted with sites in the Trafford Centre, Bolton and Cheshire Oaks and is now assisting with their newer ventures.

A number of the sites involved brand new three-phase connections which were organised efficiently and on time for shop openings. Equally, we ensured that changes of tenancy were completed, ensuring that billing was correct from the outset.
